October 2022
Glitch-Bar Beginnings
We opened in October 2022 as Super Smash Burgers, tucked inside the neon glow of
Glitch Bar & Games Room in Kitsilano.
Arcades. Friends. Late nights. That energy shaped everything: messy on purpose burgers, made to crush the late-night appetite.
From day one, we made a promise to keep it real: Black Angus only, never frozen, smashed hot to order.
No shortcuts, no compromises — just that crispy edge and juicy centre people came back for.
“Burgers that felt like Friday night — every night.”
Summer 2023
A City Shows Up
In 2023, Vancouver showed us love at scale. We were proud vendors at Canada Pride (Vancouver)
and the Turtle Island Festival. It wasn’t just more burgers — it was more community, more stories, and more proof
that food brings people together.
Those moments set our compass: Do Good Things isn’t a slogan; it’s how we build this brand.
October 2024
The 81% Reality Check
Vancouver is a beautiful, tough city to operate in. In October 2024, our rent jumped 81%.
For a lot of small businesses, that’s game over.
But this community had other plans. Donnellan’s Irish Pub and
the IRL Group reached out with a lifeline:
a new home on Granville Street, in the heart of Vancouver’s Entertainment District.
We didn’t just survive — we leveled up.
October 2025
Reborn as Smashed HQ
We rebranded to Smashed HQ to solidify who we are and who we serve. “HQ” stands for headquarters:
of flavour, of community, of doing good things. It’s proudly Canadian, proudly Vancouver — with no borrowed identity.
We reopened in November 2024 and got right back to it: serving up some of Vancouver’s
favourite burgers to late-night crowds, festival fam, and day-one regulars who followed us from the start.
Today
Headquarters for Flavour & Community
We’re still that late-night spot with the crispy-edge smash — just with bigger purpose and a louder voice.
Inclusive options are always on deck (halal, vegan, gluten-free — just ask), and ordering direct
helps you save fees while supporting local more than third-party apps.
This isn’t just a burger joint. It’s a movement for flavour and fairness.
