Our smash burger process

NOT A BURGER
CHAIN. GOOD.

Why we smash

THE CRUST IS
THE POINT.

Our smash burger process starts with Certified Angus Beef® because the burger is only as good as the beef underneath it. It hits a ripping-hot steel griddle and gets pressed thin—hard and fast—so the first side develops dark, lacy edges and a proper Maillard crust.

But that is only half the move. Paper-thin raw onion is pressed directly into the patty, and the exposed beef gets a hit of classic yellow mustard. When we flip it, the mustard caramelizes against the steel while the onion cooks underneath, basting in the rendered beef juices instead of drying out.

One side brings the deep beef crust. The other brings a tangy mustard sear wrapped around sweet, beef-basted onion. That double-sided finish is the SMASHED difference.

BUILD THE
DOUBLE SEAR.

Tap the griddle through four moves and see how our smash burger process builds two completely different sears.

01 · Beef down

CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF® MEETS STEEL.

The beef hits a ripping-hot griddle while it is still loose enough to spread, lace and build maximum contact.

Why the flip matters

01

THE BEEF SIDE

Hard contact creates browned, crisp edges through the Maillard reaction while the centre stays juicy.

02

THE ONION SIDE

Raw shaved onion gets trapped beneath the flipped patty and bastes in rendered Certified Angus Beef juices.

03

THE MUSTARD SEAR

Yellow mustard caramelizes on the steel, forming a tangy second crust that shields the onion and keeps the flavour locked in.
